Lead Software Engineer
Started at Socialware as a Software Engineer with a focus on maintaining existing product. Socialware is a SaaS company whose product lives in the cloud. In my time as a entry level engineer I wore many hats and worked on cross functional teams from testing, dev operations and worked with Product Management in the requirements gathering process.
After about a year at Socialware I transitioned into lead role and began leading engineering teams to include assisting the business in executing on long term strategic goals. This helped drive alignment from the business to the engineers and this also served as an advisory role to the executive team. I also helped organize what we called "Socialware Labs" to serve as a creative outlet/opportunity for engineers to fast prototype with the leading edge of current technologies. We would share our experiences and plan on adoption to solve existing problems.
My time at Socialware accelerated my personal growth and understanding of SaaS and the key technologies we used to build, test and deliver our product. My experience in the cloud is with Amazon Web Services (AWS) utilizing services such as EC2, RDS, CloudSearch, BeanStalk, S3, CloudFront and ElastiCache. On the devops side of the house I am experienced in using RightScale in managing operational environments and bringing up Atlassian tools to assist in the development process: Jira, Confluence, Stash, and Crowd. On the development side of the house I worked heavily in the following Java technologies: Spring and Hibernate.
