I am currently the undergraduate secretary at the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Saskatchewan. In this capacity I address the needs of our undergraduate students, assist faculty members, and help the department secretary in our day to day operations. I also work part time as a course facilitator and sessional instructor in the same department. I teach introductory courses in both Archaeology and Anthropology. I encourage students to become better informed world citizens through expanding their knowledge of the past and of culture. I have taught in a variety of classroom types; from facilitating small groups of distance learners to teaching large lectures with upwards of 150 students. I find teaching at the university level to be both challenging and rewarding.
I also have 15 years experience of being a team member in academic, public, and industry centered archaeological and anthropological projects. I have had the opportunity to be a part of several academically centered projects in Saskatchewan, Belize and Nicaragua. Additionally, I have worked for several archaeology consulting companies. In this capacity I have taken part in projects throughout Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia and the Yukon, working to satisfy the heritage needs and requirements of clients. I also have experience with public and educationally centered projects, most recently working with Saskatchewan Archaeological Society.
I am a member of several societies, including the Society for Historical Archaeology, the Canadian Archaeological Association, and the Saskatchewan Archaeological Society. I actively take part in these societies including organizing sessions and presenting papers at their annual meetings.
