Good
When I first got stuck with Professor Hansen, I was absolutely terrified because of the terrible reviews. Do NOT listen to them! It takes a lot of time to go through the textbook and do the work, but that's how you're going to learn. She gives LO handouts that literally spell out what she will be testing over for each unit. Put in the work and you'll be fine.
Good
Prof. Hansen's really not that bad for someone who expects to read the textbook as a supplement to lectures. Her worksheets and lectures are very straightforward and engaging. However, she has a tendency to avoid answering questions directly. Her class isn't boring at all. She does a good job at emphasizing valuable information, but it's intensive though.
Good
Lots of people dislike Dr. Hansen, but I think she is the best. You can tell that she is passionate about what she teaches and she tries her best to explain the material. You won't pass if you skip class though. Tests are usually taken from the power points from her lecture but it's good to read the book also.
Awesome
The class wasn't bad at all. As long as you study, tests won't be that difficult. Her learning modules were also helpful. Her lectures can be boring but you can tell that she knows her stuff.
Awesome
I don't know why no one likes Professor Hansen. Honestly, she isn't a bad teacher. Some topics in the class are boring, but there is nothing she can do about that. The assignments are pretty light and her tests are easy to study for. You should really consider taking this class if you're looking not to die over biology. You will learn a lot.
Good
Prof. Hansen is amazing. She's very knowledgeable about her field and she studies botany on the side which I really admire. Additionally. her grading isn't too hard and she's pretty fun in lectures. Exams are straightforward as well. She also brought a giant bowl of mini M&M's to class! Can't beat that. I would want to take bio311D with her next sem.
Good
Prof. Hansen is a horrible teacher. Her lectures aren't relevant to the exam, but her class isn't hard to get an A. You just have to read the textbook and study the learning objectives and modules posted online. Majority of your grade comes from the exams. You will get an A as long as you read the textbook consistently.
Poor
This prof isn't for you if you aren't into reading every day. Exams were very specific and hard. Lectures weren't helpful at all. I only like the 2 TAs and that's only if you get lucky. Good luck if you have her.
Average
The tests are tough but as long as you read the textbook they're doable; she will replace the lowest score with an average of the three. She gives a lot of self quizzing opportunities both in and out of class that are really helpful. Also, she is very understanding; I had an issue with an assignment and missed the final and she let me do them both late.
Poor
Professor Hansen is sweet, she's not terrible but there is definitely room for improvement. She has a habit of answering questions by saying "yes, but also no" which never really had things clear for me. The test questions come from specific things she said in lectures, but the LOs and weekly self-quizzes are a life saver!
Good
Professor Hansen is very sweet and really cares about her students. Her lectures aren't great however they're a very doable A. The tests are a breeze if you read the book and you're gonna have to read weekly. Also her and her TAs are very accessible outside of class. I would definitely recommend this class if you're a good reader.
