Grants/Contract Specialist (GCS) purpose of work is to provide administrative and technical assistance to Principal Investigators. The GCS is involved in the grant project at inception. Responsibilities involve administering and facilitating pre-award grant preparation and subsequently assisting with post-award activities including; human resources, budgeting, payroll/effort reporting and invoicing/purchasing.
Experience in teaching college level classes both in traditional classroom and distance education formats.
Goals: (1) To achieve Certified Research Administrator (CRA) designation 2012. (2) Continue to share knowledge with others on the teaching side of the education equation.
Grants/Contract Specialist
Responsible for monitoring the financial status of multiple research grants, subcontracts, and service agreements. Helping Principal Investigator (PI) apply for grants/contracts through assistance with budgets, forms, deadlines, approvals, and signatures. Monthly monitoring/reconciling of project expenses, purchasing/supply chain management, and payroll/project effort reporting. Use of advanced Excel spreadsheets, including the creation and use of Excel formulas. Assist in the closeout process of completed projects and ensures that all pending issues are resolved and necessary information is provided. Ensure that grant documents are filed in both hard copy files and on department electronic network. Prepare and present written and verbal reports, correspondence, agenda items and other documents for department management. Handle highly sensitive situations within the context of legal constraints.
Adjunct Faculty Allied Health/Health Information Technology
Plans, implements and evaluates academic curriculum and assigned teaching responsibilities for healthcare courses. Ability to teach courses in Health Information Technology (HIT), to include medical terminology, ICD-9 & CPT Coding, implementation of EHRs, quality improvement in health care, legal issues, computer applications in health information technology.
