Good
I think Professor Gerstl is great. He's hilarious and kind. That being said, the class wasn't easy. I took the hybrid course, and there was an individual assignment, group work, and a quiz every week. Also, homework and group work were pass-fail and he gave great feedback. The final project is a bit tricky though. However, he allows you to resubmit items if needed.

NYC Next Idea
NYC Next Idea is a business plan competition for students at universities outside the US. The competition asks students to imagine a business particularly suited to launch in New York City
and to create a business case for the idea. Finalists are brought to NYC where they present their ideas in front of a panel of judges drawn from the investment
academic and startup communities. The winning teams are awarded cash prizes which they can use to launch their business.\n\nThis year [2011-2012] the competition saw entries from over 60 countries and also from New York City as
for the first time
students at NYC-based colleges and universities were eligible to join teams.\n\nRepresentative Press [sorry that these are not live links--it's a restriction from LinkedIn]:\n\nhttp://www.crainsnewyork.com/article/20110408/SMALLBIZ/110409880\n\nhttp://technoverseblog.com/2011/04/nyc-next-idea/\n\nMayoral press release:\n\nwww.nyc.gov/html/om/html/2011a/pr113-11.html\n
NYC Venture Fellows
NYC Venture Fellows is a selective
international program to help successful entrepreneurs take their ventures to the next level. Fellows are selected by a group of academic
finance and business leaders from the population of successful New York City and international entrepreneurs who have the potential for significant further company growth. The fellows are invited to informal sessions with major C-level executives to discuss relevant business problems and innovative solutions drawn from the careers of the CEOs. Fellows are also matched with mentors from the highest levels of the New York City business community.\n\nThe class is typically constructed so that 2/3 of the fellows are New York City based
and 1/3 is international. For the New York City fellows
this serves to give them an international network and ease eventual international expansion. For the international fellows
this educates them about the US market and the NYC business climate
hopefully as a prelude to expansion in the City.\n\nRepresentative Press [sorry that these are not live links--it's a restriction from LinkedIn]:\n\nhttp://www.fordham.edu/campus_resources/enewsroom/inside_fordham/february_27_2012/news/fordham_big_apple_jo_81774.asp\n\nhttp://www.betabeat.com/2012/02/17/nycedc-new-york-city-venture-fellows-2012-02172012/\n\nhttp://www.observer.com/2010/12/nyc-plays-matchmaker-between-startups-and-pros/\n\nMayoral Press Release:\n\nwww.nyc.gov/html/om/html/2010b/pr494-10.html
