I work to build teacher-powered schools that take professional learning, growth, and interdependency seriously.
I believe that schools prosper when teachers and leaders invest in and commit to three things first: a guaranteed and viable curriculum that is sequenced at all grade levels; authentic literacy that promotes purposeful reading, writing, and discussion in all coursework; and effective practice that is built around soundly structured lessons.

U Prep Middle is a knowledge-based community, where adults pull together using common instructional and literacy practices to teach a curriculum that is coherent, cumulative, and content specific. The school opened in CSD 7 in the South Bronx in the summer of 2019 with fifth and sixth-grade students.
Our mission is help students improve their ability to read and become more educated about the world around them, growing as active members of our community under the close guidance and direction of their teachers. We want our eighth-graders to confidently enter U Prep High or another competitive high school and then continue on to a college of their choice.
