Dr. David E. Jones currently serves as the Chief Diversity Officer and Director of Talent Management at William Paterson University. Dr. Jones is a diversity executive with experience in equity and inclusion consulting, training, strategy, speaking, leadership, recruiting and hiring for diversity, and curriculum development.
David is a result data-driven, critical and analytical thinker with a proven portfolio that exhibits an ability to engage and effectively work across difference; address dynamics of privilege, power and oppression; develop and implement strategic plans and lead inclusively to create and sustain inclusive organizational cultures.
David is active with the National Association for Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), holding several leadership roles and serving as a regular conference presenter/speaker. Most notably, David was the 2018 keynote speaker for the NASPA Region III Summer Symposium. David has delivered over 100 educational sessions, workshops or keynotes at higher education conferences and on college and university campuses, nationwide. He has published in the The Journal of College Student Development and appeared on the Higher Ed Live Network Student Affairs Live show.
Recognized by NASPA with the Doris Ching Award for Excellence as a Student Affairs Professional, his work on diversity, equity and inclusion is highly regarded. David has also been the recipient of several awards such as the Social Justice Educator Award for ACPA’s Commission for Social Justice Educators, Mid-Level Professional Award for NASPA’s African American Knowledge Community, NASPA Region I’s Network for Educational Equity & Ethnic Diversity Award and Diversity Hallmark Award for the Department of Residential Education at New York University.
