While he may be hard to communicate with at times, Crombecque is a great teacher. Be prepared to do a lot of homework however. There have been nights where I've barely slept,. I just wish that he was a more approachable person, as I would feel more encouraged to ask questions about the material when I feel confused.
Awesome
Professor Crombecque is very good at explaining concepts in class which he relates to the past concepts. He is very accessible. He will allow more than twice the normal office hours of other professors. He did assign a lot of homework, but, it is all relevant and the same problem types show up on exams. His class is composed of weekly homework and quizzes, two midterms and a final exam.
Awesome
Professor Crombecque's linear algebra class is very good. There was an insistence on going over proofs which is important for developing mathematical maturity. That is something not otherwise covered at USC during calculus sequence. Just be prepared for the tests since the time is limited. Also homework is graded on correctness, so remember not to slack off.
Awesome
Prof. David is good at explaining things. His office hours are pretty helpful as well. Even though COVID-19 hit in the middle of the class, he was very accommodating! He gives lots of HW but he doesn't grade everything. He also doesn't tell you which questions are graded and which aren't, so don't get hung up on one problem. If I didn't have him, I would've done so much worse.
Awful
Professor Crombecque is the worst professor I've ever had at University of Southern California. He is condescending when people ask questions. He gives too much homework and makes unreasonably long tests. His exams test how fast you can make calculations rather than understanding the material. Also, he wasn't very accommodating when our semester was moved online.
Awful
We had no time for questions during lectures because he talks and writes non-stop. Also, he has a thick French accent, so he's pretty hard to understand. Lastly, he doesn't go over the examples in class, so the TA takes over that. Thing is, there's no communication between the TA and him, so the TA's clueless on what we did in class.
Awful
Prof. Crombeque is an amazing lecturer when he wants to be, but that isn't most of the time. When you try to ask him questions and concerns, he's just very condescending and unhelpful. He will really make you feel dumb, and is just rude. Wouldn't want to take him again! He gives study guides for exams, but he uploads the actual solutions super late.
Good
For me, Professor Crombecque's class was way easier than 226. He will provide all the tools you need to succeed. And if you take the time to really understand everything, he will not do spoon-feeding though, you'll do well more than average. Fortunately, I averaged thirty points above the curve on each exam, with no prior study or experience.
Awesome
Professor Crombecque was fantastic in the MATH225 class. His very sarcastic attitude with a French accent is an advantage. The homework is a lot and the tests have quite a few questions for fifty minutes. However, as long as you're prepared and do the problems he gave, this class shouldn't be too hard.
