Economic Assistant
Responsible for the collection of primary data for the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Assignment requires pricing a wide variety of outlet and product types in establishments which provide retail goods and services to the public. Position requires monitoring and reporting on local economic conditions affecting retail transactions and trends. Responsible for securing initial voluntary cooperation from retail establishment owner/ managers, housing unit inhabitants, and is for repricing goods and services for the CPI.
Senior Economist
Plan, schedule and conduct data collection assignments for the National Compensation Survey Programs and Occupational Requirements Survey using fairly complex economic or statistical techniques. Apply economic principles and statistical techniques in order to evaluate the data collected and make adjustments to ensure reliability and comparability. Apply standard practices and techniques to the solicitation of data and report information in accordance with survey requirements. Use computers and computer applications to analyze and communicate information in the appropriate format and to search for information in a knowledge database. Express information to individuals or groups effectively, making clear and convincing oral presentations. Compose written information, which may include technical material that is appropriate for the intended audience. Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with independent, unaffiliated respondents. Plan and set priorities to determine and achieve short and intermediate term goals.
Adjunct Instructor
Instruct undergraduate students in a variety of economic studies. Educate and motivate students to develop a knowledge of economic systems, economic tools, resource allocation and economic thinking. Develop student critical thinking skills from a variety of economic points of view including consumers, producers and government agencies. Improve students’ skills in the understanding, and use, of economic tools in the decision making process. Topics include theoretical concepts as well as practical micro-economic and macro-economic applications. Motivate students to acquire skills that will better assess current and future economic opportunities, and develop effective responses to economic and business challenges.

Responsible for achieving territory sales and profitability goals in the wirehouse distribution channel. Developed, implemented and maintained annual marketing plans and positioning strategies. Represented the Hartford fixed and Director M variable annuity and provided sales assistance for the Hartford 401(k) retirement plans. Utilized proprietary data base management system to obtain and follow up on territory leads. Served as primary public speaker for the Hartford in assigned territory, conducting individual and group meetings and educating clients and the general public on various economic and investment topics. Developed sales relationships through individual presentations, group seminars and regional presentations. Certified in the State of California as a Continuing Education Instructor, conducting Continuing Education classes for California Life and Health Agents and Certified Public Accountants.
