As a visiting professor, I am responsible for teaching Principles of Psychology, Psychopathology, Lifespan Development, Personality, and Research Methods. The Psychology Department is one of the largest on campus, with 60-70 graduates each year. Intended Learning Outcomes for Psychology majors include developing content knowledge of the discipline, developing knowledge and skills in scientific reasoning, awareness of ethical principles and standards in the science and application of psychology, and knowledge of the influence of culture and diversity in the field of psychology. The Department of Psychology is committed to maintaining a rigorous academic curriculum within a supportive community structure. It seeks to address broad questions posed by a liberal education and specific concerns of individual students. St. Olaf College’s mission statement provides a framework for curriculum, personal development, and community relations. Because life is more than facts and theories, the Psychology Department encourages students to be responsible citizens dedicated to service, as well as scientific seekers of truth. https://wp.stolaf.edu/
