Daniel J Cecil is a writer and editor in Seattle, Washington. Predoctoral Instructor
Predoctoral Instructor of ENG 284, Beginning Short Story Writing. This class will teach young writers the craft of writing the short story. I focus on characterization, scenic detail, dialogue, image, metaphor, plot, point of view, scene and summary, setting, theme, and voice. I will again teach ENG131 Composition: Exposition in the Spring. This class covers the study and practice of good writing through topics derived from a variety of personal, academic, and public subjects.
Acting Instructor
I acted as instructor for English 284, Beginning Fiction Writing, at the University of Washington, Seattle. This class focused on the craft of flash fiction, with an emphasis on creating conflict and deepening characterization in condensed form.
