Dr. Daniel Gang is currently a full professor and graduate coordinator in the Civil Engineering Department at University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL). He is the founding director of the Center of Environmental Engineering and Protection (CEEP) at UL. He received his BS and MS degrees from Henan University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China, respectively. He earned his second MS and PhD degree from University of Missouri. Dr. Daniel Gang’s research interests have been in physical/chemical water and wastewater treatment and environmental chemistry; fate and transport of contaminants in engineered and natural aqueous systems. Specific research topics include (1) disinfection by products (DBPs) formation, control and modeling; (2) multifunctional adsorption material development and environmental application; (3) chromium (Cr), arsenic (As), and selenium (Se) removal from acid mine drainage (AMD), (4) coastal erosion mitigation, and (5) hydraulic fracturing backflow water treatments. He has been actively involved in numerous research projects for NASA, USEPA, DOE and state agencies with over $3 million in grants as the PI or co-PI and published over 60 peer-reviewed journal papers. He is a Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in States of Missouri and West Virginia.
