Awesome
Professor Collins for Chem 101 and Chem 102. He is an excellent instructor who takes our learning very seriously. You should careful. He may be more difficult than other professors. Do not take him if you are looking for an easy A. On the other hand, if you really want to learn, he is the best instructor.
Awful
If you want a good grade in Chem 102, do not take Professor Collins. He is not nice. You will have to work very hard in his class. Collins will make you learn and you will know a lot more than with the other profs. Most of your grade is dependent on tests and he does NOT CURVE. Collins is terrible at teaching and he will expect way too much. Take Bethel or McCartney instead.

Good
Chemistry has got to be one of the most complex and detailed classes I have ever taken. Daniel does an excellent job at explaining the more intricate and detailed aspects of the experiments that you are expected to perform. Unfortunately, I did not take Chem 102 with him.
Awesome
Doctor Collins is definitely a "coach professor". He puts inspirational quotes at the end of emails, gives the "talent is overrated" speech, and is big on teaching students to "lift" but not lifting for them. He is awesome if that type of thing works for you. He does really care, and if you give him 100%, he will give you his.
Good
I had Professor Collins for 101 & 102, and although he is very difficult he is one of the best professors I have had. The class requires you to work for a good grade, but you will learn a lot in exchange. He is always willing to help and is super accessible during office hours. He makes an effort to be personable and always remembers his student's names. Overall, a good professor but hard.
Awesome
I'm currently taking 119 with him and he's totally great. He really motivates his students to do well in chemistry. He gives enough assignments, quizzes, and tests that you could recover from if you take a hit. What you give is also what you get. He also gives lots of resources so he's a 10/10 for me!
Awesome
Very effective professor, especially for students new to chemistry. He presents the material in a relatable and memorable way. His sense of humor can take some getting used to though. ALEKS is actually very good for cementing concepts and giving really good feedback. Treasure it, before you have to deal with sapling and pearson mastering.

Even though Collins is great at his job, I wouldn't want him as my professor again. I know that chemistry will be difficult no matter who teaches it. However, in comparison to the other professors, Collins would give twice the work and he moves incredibly fast. I ended up dropping his class, taking a different professor, and I did fine. As long as you are ok with extra work and going at a fast pace, you will be fine.
Awesome
Doctor Collins cares so much about his students and helps them to succeed. His lectures were never been boring and he's very funny too. You should definitely show up to class, if you want to do well and utilize all of the materials he gives you, like videos, textbook problems, worksheets and notes. It really helps. He's by far my favorite professor.
Good
Professor Collins is funny and genuinely cares about his students. Sometimes, he gets off track during lectures or wastes time talking about irrelevant topics. However, he's a great teacher. Just make sure to do the pre class quizzes and all of your homework. Or, you can forget a 4.0 in the class. Overall, he's one of the most amazing professors I've ever had.
Awesome
Dr. Collins is by far my favorite teacher that I have ever had. His lectures are super entertaining and he makes chemistry really fun.
Good
Prof. Daniel is very funny, but he gives the hardest exams. I had him in the fall semester and he always gives at least one or two tricky questions! Personally, I feel like the homework is bs and doesn't really help with exams. For exams, I suggest you review the powerpoints and practice a lot. He's still my fave prof though because he's hilarious!
Good
Prof. Collins is tough. If you're looking for an easy A, this isn't for you. He also gives a lot of homework. He actually teaches well, so if you're interested in really learning, take him. Just a really tough one though.
Average
Prof. Collins is very cool but shifting to online exams wrecked me. I loved him for CHEM 1, but CHEM 2 with him was a lot different. ALEKS system is tough and it isn't even helpful for exams. We actually started off fine but when we shifted online, exams seem to be impossible to pass even with the notes.
Awesome
Professor Collins is my favorite teacher at Texas A&M University. I've taken him twice in General Chemistry 2 and Organic Chemistry 1. If you're willing to put in the work, you will get the grade you want. Students' know what they are doing and so does he. You leave his class knowing chemistry. Just show up to class and do your homework. Be sure to study for tests a few days in advance and you can get an A. I wish he taught a higher level of chemistry.
Average
Doctor Collins is great. His exams are quite difficult. So, you just have to go to the SI sessions regularly, practice every day and take the master's practice exams. The homework is a lot too. ALEKS is a pain with modules, pre-class quizzes and post-chapter quizzes. However, this is a huge buffer to my grade. Overall, he's a pretty good professor. You just really need to be prepared to work.
Awful
Prof. Collins was a tough prof. He often makes insensitive jokes in class by mocking those who did poorly on exams. I actually felt bad about myself because of him. He made me realize that I wasn't cut out for the stem field.
Good
Prof. Collins' lectures are interesting. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, he really put in effort to make sure that everyone understood the material. He actually gives tons of work, but if you manage your time well and hustle hard, you'll do fine.
Good
Prof. Collins is awesome!!! He's very hands on! The key for exams is to really master the practice exams because they're actually almost the same. We had one random bonus per exam, so you can actually expect to get that right in 1 or 2 exams. It was such an easy class as long as you do the homework and practice exams!
Awesome
While Covid-19 does affect the way classes are run, I don't think that these changes were unreasonable. Yes, as many have stated, the tests were very difficult, especially in an online format. But Doctor Collins gives every student an opportunity for success. He really seeks to enrich your understanding of the material. The class is not easy, but worth it.
Awful
Professor Collins' extensive amount of homework is on ALEKS. To be honest, it didn't help with the tests at all. His examples on lectures were not related to exams questions, which were exponentially more difficult. The adaptation to the online class was fine. However, he decided to make the test even harder and did not give or teach us enough material, to prepare us well for the exam.
Awful
I understand that I took this during Covid-19 with an unexpected turn. But even before the pandemic, Professor Collins' gave a crazy amount of homework and quizzes. Also, pre-class quizzes didn't help for exam preparations. Practice exams didn't even reflect the test material. I don't think it's all worth it. I personally would strongly recommend you to get another professor.
Average
Doctor Collins is a great teacher. However, his workload was overwhelming. In addition to laboratory work, he expected post and pre-class quizzes and Aleks homework to be done. This wasn't the only class the students were taking. It was unfair for him to expect it. Also, he never knew how to separate work from personal matters and it's unprofessional.
Awesome
Dr. Collins is an amazing lecturer. I had him for both CHEM 119 and 120, and they were both manageable. His lectures are engaging, and he makes his slides available online for future reference. The homework is a lot, but it is manageable if you keep up with it, and it does help you prepare for exams.
Awesome
Doctor Collins really cares about his students. He's a very fair professor. I do have a lot of respect for him. The tests were hard, especially when it went online due to pandemic. However, as long as you work hard, you'll get an A. He also did give heavy curves. Just be sure to do the textbook problems. In addition, just be sure to do the textbook problems.
Awful
I took Doctor Collins for Chemistry 120. It went decently until halfway through we went online due to the pandemic. The tests were unreasonably difficult and became open-ended online tests, with things that were not taught. Basically, he blamed us for not trying when the exam average was in the '40s. In addition, the homework was extensive and the lesson became extremely chaotic.
Good
Professor Collins gives great lectures that keep you engaged. He always offers real-life examples to help you memorize the material. The exams were difficult but not impossible. Just come and do your homework, and you'll be fine. I definitely recommend him for Chemistry 120.
Good
Professor Collins is a good teacher of Chemistry 119. Definitely, I think he's the best choice. His exams are difficult though. However, he offers plenty of chances to raise your grade with pre-lecture and post-chapter quizzes, as well as homework which is all online. I would definitely recommend him for this course.
Awesome
Doctor Collins was great. However, his class is difficult and he will make you work very hard for the grade. On the other hand, if you give a hundred percent, the exams are very manageable and you will succeed. I would recommend taking him for Chemistry 119 and 120 at Texas A&M University.
Good
I took Professor Collins for both Chemistry 119 and 120, and I can say he's exceptional and hilarious. However, I don't know what happened on the last two exams for Chemistry 120. I went from getting an A on every test to 21/100. The online exams were terrible too. Also, ALEKS, the homework system he uses is absolutely the worst. Honestly, the effort you put in reflects the grade you deserve.
Poor
Professor Collins put in a bit of effort during the online transition due to Covid-19. He's not accessible either. The exams became incredibly difficult in the middle of the semester, and without warning. Eventually, he ended up making a few curves to help the grades after an average test in the 40s. However, he was still a very stressful teacher. Overall, I would not recommend his class.
