Awesome
Dr. Oaks is an awesome professor. He makes the subject very interesting and even though the lectures can be a lot of new information, he uses lots of examples and makes his subject accessible. You have to go to class. If you do, then you will do fine. The actual coursework was not difficult and he was always willing to help.
Awesome
Professor Oaks was an excellent teacher. His lectures were very interesting. He gave a lot of example in the class. His assignments were pretty easy. He's very fair about everything too. I will definitely going to make more classes from him in the future.
Average
Professor Oaks is a truly educated man, and I have learned quite a bit from him. You really need to attend class, and pay attention in order to get the information you will need. I also recommend you attend TA sessions, and take very good notes. He barely uses Learning Suite for anything, and your grade is based off of only a few things.
Good
He is an excellent professor, but be prepared to rush to your next class! He looks at the clock and sees that his time is up, so he still moves on to another idea. Aside from that, he is a fine teacher who is eager to assist you in learning.

Dallin D. Oaks is an Associate Professor of English Linguistics at Brigham Young University. He is a specialist in the structure of the English language and has published several books, including Linguistics at Work, An Introductory English Grammar (co-authored with the late Norman C. Stageberg), and Structural Ambiguity in English: An Applied Grammatical Inventory, 2 vols. The latter book is a detailed description of the features of the English grammatical system that can be exploited to create structural ambiguities, which are found at the heart of some of the best comedy and advertising. His work shows how a conscious knowledge of the grammatical features of the language can be manipulated to create clever word plays in humor and advertising.
He with others has also begun a company called PhraseWorthy, which consults on language-related matters for advertising and marketing.
