You have to work really hard for an A in this course! Participation is taken through an outside app, so make sure you complete it every week. There is a butterfly project that will drive you insane. The syllabus is unclear on most assignments. If you want to get an A, be sure to ask questions during the discussion forum and send emails together to the TA and Prof.
Awful
Getting in touch with the Teaching Assistants or Professor Coates to resolve questions can be difficult. You must be available for community service activities.
Good
Dr. Coates is a good professor. His class was an overall good class I have no complaints! This class is easy, but there is so much busy work. If you aren't very busy already then you'll do fine. He is accessible and friendly just be ready to do lots of filler quizzes, discussions, projects, etc.
Awful
Professor Coates will require you to do a service project outside the class. It is a lot of work to do. Do not take this class.

Professor Coates's class has easy busywork. If you do the homework thoroughly, you'll get an A. What's annoying is that homework is graded by peers and the teacher doesn't respond to any emails. Nevertheless, I would take this class again for an easy A in science credit.
Poor
Your final grade really depends on your classmates. This professor made us grade each other based on perceptive. Even if you consistently receive good feedback, it's still very challenging to get an A. I honestly wouldn't recommend his class. It's a no from me.
