If I could make a living by connecting with and coaching professionals over coffee (an iced, 2% vanilla latte, if we're being specific), learning about what drives them and provoking them to ask insightful and deeper questions about vocational identity, organizational functioning, and professional growth, I would.
For now, I wake up most mornings excited to speak, teach, and mentor both in and outside the classroom, equip undergraduate students for their post-collegiate endeavors, engage others in my research to make it practical and meaningful, and encourage growth in people, groups, processes, and organizations.
My joy? "Meeting someone on the way to where they're going and offering them something..."
In the classroom, this desire motivates me to take theoretical course material and make it both practical for students’ instrumental application and meaningful for deeper understanding of themselves and the communicative world around them. More than information dissemination, teaching and coaching have the potential for personal transformation.
