I am an Associate Professor of Sport Commerce at The University of Memphis. I currently teach sport marketing, sport promotions, and classes addressing fan behavior and rivalry in sport. I was named the 2015 Emerging Scholar in Sports Marketing by the Sports and Special Events SIG of the American Marketing Association.
I have published in journals such as Sport Management Review, the Journal of Sport Management, Sport Marketing Quarterly, the Journal of Sport Behavior, and International Journal of Sport Management and Marketing. I developed and validated the Sport Rivalry Fan Perception Scale (SRFPS) to measure fan perceptions of rival teams, and Glory Out of Reflect Failure (GORFing) to explain the feelings of joy fans receive when their rival loses to someone other than their favorite team.
