Awful
Prof. Hilty is a terrible professor. He isn't accessible during office hours and he doesn't even know how to teach. His lectures do not follow the structure of the book and he doesn't post it until the day of class, so you have no time to be prepared. His teaching style isn't student-friendly as well. I wouldn't take him again honestly.
Awful
Hilty is a very hard chemistry professor. He doesn't communicate during office hours clearly and doesn't seem to care very much. There is a LOT of homework with not quite unhelpful lectures. I would recommend taking a different professor.
Good
I personally found the class of Professor Hilty to be easy. The concepts from the homework were applied directly to the test. So, I didn't study that much and still made a good grade. The exams reflected lectures and homework as well. Just remember to pay attention in class and participate. This was my experience with his class and it won't be the same as other people's experiences.
Average
Hilty a very nice guy, however not a very good professor. Quite a bit of homework, which is usually due at noon instead of midnight. Homework, lab and clicker questions are 50% of the grade. He does generously curved the tests and overall class grade.
