Patti is not exactly life-changing. He does make you actually think about things. I took his Communications class which was a joke. He spent more time making a catalog of famous quotations. His was not an easy class. He seems to be a nice guy but I did not want to hear any more Kenneth Burke jokes.

I love Doctor Patti! He is for sure my favorite professor at Appalachian State. He is very funny and his class is always engaging, funny, and inspirational. I have learned so much even though COM1200 can be a hard class, I have become a better person because of it. I highly recommend taking him, he is life changing.

Awful

I don't know what the hype about this class is. It's all common sense but everyone acts like it's so "insightful". Professor Patti makes you print out over 100 pages of readings for a big part of your grade, which is just ridiculous. She also spends an odd amount of time talking about the holocaust for this being an interpersonal communication class. Plus, assignments take FOREVER.

Class is very discussion-based so you will really have to do the readings to get extra credit. He's incredibly funny and helpful though.

Average

Prof. Chris is great but he has super high expectations. I had him for a summer course, so I think that's why it's a lot more difficult. If it weren't only taken over the summer, I would recommend taking him. It's just that he gave us too much work to do in a little time.

Doctor Patti is one of my favorites at Appalachian State University. He has an amazing personality and always makes the class fun and interesting. I'm always a little sad when class ends. But be prepared for a lot of printing and reading. The readings can be difficult, but class discussions are always helpful and it is best if you know the topic in advance.
