Masters of Research
Marine and Fisheries Science
My research for my Master of Research degree was based on the following abstract from my Thesis.
The present analysis makes use of historical trawl survey data that were obtained from the Mediterranean International Bottom Trawl Survey (MEDITS), a Pan-Mediterranean survey comprising of 9 participating countries. The first part of this research was to investigate the abundance and distribution of Sepietta oweniana Orbigny, 1840; Alloteuthis media Linnaeus, 1758; and Eledone cirrhosa Lamarck, 1798 in relation to environmental variables (mean bottom temperature, sea surface temperature, depth and bottom sediment) in the Spanish Mediterranean during late spring and early summer from 1994 to 1998. Geographic information system (GIS) and generalised additive modelling (GAM) were applied to qualitatively and quantitatively describe the relationship between cephalopod abundance and distribution and environmental factors respectively.
