Master of Public Administration (MPA)
Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management
The Master's degree program in Public Administration with a specialization in Nonprofit Management is comprised of elective courses, a core public administration course sequence, and emphasis-area courses. The degree program also includes a public administration capstone, which must be completed before the degree can be awarded. The focus of the capstone course is to develop a business plan that utilizes a student's knowledge of public administration and general business taught in the degree program. Some of the emphasis-area courses are managing nonprofit development programs, marketing management, and governmental and nonprofit accounting.
Psychology
Organizational Systems
My interest is in the Foster Care Organizational System, specifically Foster Parent Training and Dr. John Bowlby's attachment theory and how it affects an individuals ability to lead effectively. I am researching the development of an indicator people can use to determine if they have attachment issues such as abandonment and trust which can affect their ability to develop relationships in teams as well as in personal situations. I will apply this theory to the development of a social entrepreneurship venture to develop non-profit business entities for small to medium family businesses leadership opportunities.
