Awful
Tbh, I only learned a little in lecture but a lot in lab. You’ll only learn in lab depending on who you get as a TA. Midterm and final exams weren’t related to class material and once you get a bad grade, I suggest you approach him because there’s a big chance that he may have mistakenly graded stuff wrong.
Awesome
Prof. Brown is one of the most passionate, amazing, and sweetest prof at GW! Other reviewers skipped class and attendance wasn't mandatory but it would also affect you final grade. He has a clear syllabus: lab (30%) and 2 exams (35%). There was also a one 1-2 page film reflection paper which would determine the final grade boost.
Poor
Before class, I read reviews and up until the 2nd half of the sem, I didn't think that it was bad at all. He reads straight off the slides, rambles, but lab was amazing, so I understood most of our midterm from there. Final covered less from lab and even though I studied 6+ hours, there were still concepts I'd never seen before. Do not take him if you can.
Poor
Prof. Brown is very funny, nice, and passionate but he doesn't seem to know how to teach his students. His lectures are pretty boring and most information he says in class isn't on the final. Class grade only comes from midterm, final, and lab, so it'll greatly affect your grade if you do bad on the final.
Awful
Mr.Brown is very knowledgeable about geology, however lacks any and all other skills, making him a weak and an uninspiring professor. Even though he is qualified he is absolutely hopeless and terrible at teaching his class. I honestly don't believe he knows how to make power points, syllabuses or tests.
