Dr. Catherine Lido is an internationally published, award-winning Senior Lecturer in Psychology, in the School of Education at the University of Glasgow. She is Co-Investigator of the Urban Big Data Centre Phase 2, and leads a Conversion Masters in Psychological Studies. Her PhD is from the University of Sussex (2004) in the area of social psychology, and concerned gender stereotypes in job interviews. She researches social inclusion in adult learning, as well as stereotypes and prejudice more broadly (for instance the impact of media bias on attitudes). She works from a mixed-methods and interdisciplinary framework, for instance using large and novel data and multi-media data sources to explore educational inclusion in Learning Cities. She is also Co-Investigator on three other projects currently, the VisNET project, supporting early career women in engineering using virtual networking, the British Council Impact Study in Scotland, as well as the Big Lottery Funded Eat Well Age Well pilot project (working with Food Train, regarding food poverty and social isolation in older adults). Details of specific projects can be found at the ubdc.ac.uk.
She is a member of the Research and Teaching Group in People, Place & Social Justice in Education at Glasgow University, and was previously a Research Fellow, senior lecturer and former BSc Programme leader for the University of West London (2004-2014). She is also a visiting lecturer for the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she taught on the 'Psychology of Human Diversity'.
