Burcu B. Keskin is a Professor of Operations Management at the University of Alabama in the Department of Information Systems, Statistics, and Management Science. She has conducted research in different areas of supply chain management including inventory theory, facility location, production distribution system design, multi-modal transportation with a particular emphasis on applied optimization. in journals including Naval Research Logistics, IIE Transactions, European Journal of Operational Research, Computers and Operations Research, Transportation Research: Part-E, and Interfaces. Her paper on routing state troopers was highlighted in the 2012 spring issue of University’s research magazine due to its potential impact. Another paper co-authored by Dr. Keskin on scheduling NCAA basketball tournament was highlighted by ESPN, FoxNews, and Culverhouse Executive Magazine. Dr. Keskin is in the editorial boards of Interfaces, Computers and Operations Research, Omega, International Journal of Operations Research and Information Systems. She also serves as a reviewer for over twenty journals.

Dr. Keskin is ISM Associate Department Head. Previously, Dr. Keskin has been the OM Doctoral Coordinator. Dr. Keskin was a part of the Business Analytics Initiative in the Culverhouse College of Commerce from 2011 to 2016. Dr. Keskin was the advisors of the MBA program SCOM concentration from 2009 through 2018. She is also the faculty advisor of the Women MBA International (http://www.mbawomen.org/).

Dr. Keskin is an active member of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS). Dr. Keskin is also an active member of the other professional institutes including the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI), the Production and Operations Management Society, and the Institute for Industrial Engineers (IIE).

    OM Doctoral Program Coordinator

    OM doctoral program is focused on yielding distinguished professionals for careers in higher education and industry through comprehensive research and study. Successful applicants will develop the competency to conduct and publish doctoral- level research through a series of courses and seminars that complement and supplement each student’s background and goals.

    Admission Requirements
    The doctoral program generally admits two to four applicants each year, depending on the availability of financial support and the overall current enrollment. This policy ensures that each doctoral student will have adequate support from the faculty. Applicants are admitted in the fall semester, with occasional exceptions. While applications are accepted and evaluated year-round for program fit and financial support, applicants should submit all of their application materials by January 9 for best consideration for a select number of University-sponsored fellowships.

    **Doctoral applicants typically have a master's degree and solid quantitative analytical skills.
    **Applicants should submit either GMAT (minimum 600) or GRE (minimum 1200-old format, minimum 312-new format) test scores.
    **In addition, an applicant should have a GPA of at least 3.00 in all previous relevant degree programs. International students, whose native language is not English, should have at least a 550 written, 213 computer, or 79 internet-based score on the TOEFL exam.
