I am an Associate Professor of Digital Media and Director of Visual Arts at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS). I teach Graphic Design courses in introductory technology, print, type, web, animation, advanced studies, and digital and film photography, plus professional skills.
My specific areas of interest in design are publication design, typography, wayfinding, and design methodologies and research in regards to privacy, social and emotional aspects of health care using environmental design. I have worked on several projects regarding the design of educational experiences for children with cognitive developmental disabilities that focus on social inclusion and communication.
I work with a variety of corporate clients, especially non-profits.
I am also an exhibiting artist, interested in the way in which we communicate the self in our modern age.
Co Director
DEMO Project was a contemporary art gallery in Springfield, Illinois. Exhibiting artists interpreted the non-traditional exhibition space as they self-directed, and were offered considerable latitude to experiment and present without risk. DEMO Project supported contemporary art projects, champions artists, and offered the Capital City of Illinois a venue to see and consider contemporary art practices.

Graduate Research Assistant
I am a research assistant for the Design Information Research Group (DIRG). I have worked on multiple projects, including evaluating the effectiveness of the existing and modified wayfinding and interior elements of the student health center, a collaborative project with the Mayo Clinic's Center for Innovation evaluating the impact and effectiveness of medical decision aids, and studying women and gender in design. Involvement in preliminary research and development of methodology. I have facilitated in organizing and recording user tests to gather and evaluate data.

I teach sophomore level undergraduate courses in Graphic Design (ArtGr 275, ArtGr 276) that cover graphic technology & color theory. I help to developing lectures and teach software applications, including the Adobe Creative Suite, through live computer demonstrations. During class I conduct class critiques and student evaluations. The courses explore and development software application, color theory, and creative techniques.
Visiting Assistant Professor
I teach Intro to Ps & Ai, Digital Imaging 1 & 2, Typography 1 & 2, Web Design 1 & 2, and Digital Photography 1. I also advise senior design students and conduct independent studies.
