To make my time count
Professor of journalism, author, recovering dog musher
I regularly teach news writing, investigative reporting and Media & Culture, the department's media literacy course. Ongoing personal projects: Writing a book about my the exoneration and release of the Fairbanks Four. Professional goal: recruiting and training students who embrace Journalism's public service mission.
Reporter, dog musher, former Opinion page editor
Over the years, I worked as reporter, special projects and Opinion page editor. Came and went between book projects, sled dog races and reporting gigs elsewhere. Fairbanks always pulled me back North.
