During my tenure as a sergeant at Hamilton Police Department
I was assigned to various roles. \nI worked as a patrol division shift sergeant. My next assignment was in the administrative division as the supervisor of the public affairs section
school resource supervisor and eventually as a training sergeant. This afforded me experiences
training and certifications on many different levels. \n\nThroughout all of these roles
I had a multitude of personnel assigned to me. I was responsible for handling any complaints on my subordinates as well as evaluations for those under my direct supervision. I currently maintain memberships with the International Law Enforcement and Educators Association (ILEETA) and Ohio School Resource Officer Association (OSROA)
and I attended numerous specific job related training and certification courses specifically related to the various roles I was serving. Highlights of training course topics include: various firearms courses
less lethal systems
de-escalation training
public records laws
handling critical incidents
and instructor courses. I received instructor certifications for less lethal weapons
OC / defensive spray and semi-automatic handguns. I also received ALICE instructor certification. \n\nI attended certification courses with American Crime Prevention Institute for Law Enforcement Security Assessment Specialist and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). Part of my responsibilities included conducting security assessments for area businesses and their properties
as well as houses of worship
schools and public space areas. This was also in conjunction with public outreach classes I taught on de-escalation
active threat classes
outdoor venue active threats
and workplace violence.
