Good
Holmes is a wonderful teacher and instructor. She is a very dear and warm woman who has a great heart and who genuinely cares about her students. I would say she is the best professor I have ever had. She is very helpful with the more complicated aspects of the Spanish Language. If you put forth the effort, you will do very well in her class. I would definitely take her again if she taught Spanish 2002.
Awesome
Dr. Holmes is the best Spanish teacher. I have extreme difficulty with Spanish but I still managed to get a B. It is possible to pass if you do the work. At the beginning of the semester, we were all little stressed. But towards the end all of our grades came together. We were all doing very well.
Awesome
Prof. Holmes is one of the best spanish professors in the university. She is very caring and helpful. She gives 6 labs, weekly supersite hw, 2 tests, and a final. If you want a spanish professor that's willing to help and work with you, Prof. Holmes is the best option.

Bonnie
Holmes
Ashland, Oregon
I joined Southern Oregon University in the Fall of 2018 and currently teach courses in Spanish language, linguistics and second language acquisition. As an applied linguist, my research interests center on cognitive aspects of how second and heritage languages develop. These encompass, for example, how speech is processed and why learners sometimes experience certain processing and comprehension difficulties. In my classroom-focused studies I look at the impact of service learning on language acquisition and community involvement, and the ways it can support Spanish language maintenance and revitalization efforts in the US.
While my primary appointment at SOU is in the department of World Languages and Literatures, I also teach graduate courses in the Department of Education's Master of Arts in Teaching program. My involvement in teacher education outside these courses includes supervising and mentoring world language student teachers in their field placements in area schools, and providing guidance during the licensure and edTPA assessment processes.
I'm also on faculty at SOU's Summer Language Institute and Master of Arts in Spanish Language Teaching program in Guanajuato, Mexico, where I teach graduate courses on language acquisition and teaching methodology.
