Over twenty five years demonstrated competence as teacher, published researcher and administrator at university level. Specialist in Communication Studies with emphasis in ethics of dialogue,philosophy of language, gender studies, interpersonal and intercultural communication. Strong background in interdisciplinary approaches to research with commitment to humanities. Extensive service on editorial boards of national and international academic presses. Years of experience overseeing internships and service learning projects. Affiliated with Gender Studies, Center for Experiential Learning, Graduate School and Peace Studies.Former Ethics Fellow. Extensive service on university wide committees including Student Conduct, Academic Integrity for student-athletes, Fulbright selection, Presidential Scholarship selection and University Rank and Tenure Committee.
Contributed significantly as Associate Dean on administrative team to transition a small department into a free-standing School of Communication. (A department with 300 students and 12 full time faculty grew to 800 students and 30 full time faculty in five years)
Integrity is everything. Have mentored tenure-track faculty, developed and implemented new curriculum and course schedules, hired and supervised part-time faculty, written multiple proposals and new policy statements, maintained collegial relationships with other university units, assisted developing school public relations literature, resolved student-faculty conflicts,assessed and managed academic integrity cases, conducted new faculty searches, chaired several committees essential to program growth and vitality.
