Awful

Prof. Alvarez entertains questions and you can see that he's very passionate about the subjects he teaches, however he's unreasonably tough. He gave me a B when I did his assignments on social inequality. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. They were lots of work as well. I just really think he's unreasonable!

Awful

In one semester, i took two classes with Prof. Alvarez. It was the biggest mistake ever! He's a tough grader and he has high expectations. He's also very disorganized. He gave extra credit which are due the same night. He expected a lot from us.

Good

I'm not a sociology major. I only took Doctor Alvarez' class for certification for my field. So I was just looking to pass. However, he made me want to learn and do well. He's also funny, caring and very understanding. His class has a lot of work and takes a lot of time especially over summer. However, in the end if you care, ask him questions and put forth effort, then you will do great.
