Senior Denial Specialist- Managed Care Contracting
• Specialized in reviewing and appealing all underpaid and denied hospital and physician claims.
• Responsible for communicating with Provider Network Managers for specific payers in order to resolve all ongoing contract and payment issues.
• In charge of assessing payer contracts and calculating correct rates.
• Investigated finance reports in an effort to reduce the hospitals outstanding A/R balance including: high dollar claims, daily payment variance, and payer specific reports.
• Team Leader of claim appeals for Aetna, PHCS, Coventry, HFN, Worker's Compensation, Occupational Health, and Medicare Replacement Plans.
• Researched payers payment policies for medical necessity and non-payable services.
Coding Compliance Auditor
•Provided physicians and other administrative staff with education in-services on coding and billing as requested.
•Taught classes to physician and office staff on various coding topics monthly.
•Ensured coding and billing compliance in accordance with coding rules, third party payer guidelines, governmental regulations, and Evanston Northwestern Healthcare’s Coding Compliance program.
•Assisted in all ICD-9, CPT-4, and HCPCS coding problem resolution for all medical specialties.
•Answered a coding helpline that ENH Medical Group and hospital staff sent coding questions to.
•Wrote monthly “Coding Newsletters” on coding topics/updates for ENH Medical Group and hospitals.
•Researched guidelines on coding topics/policies(i.e. WPS website for Medicare).

-Successfully led the HIT program through the CAHIIM accreditation process. We were granted accreditation in April of 2013

-Establish and maintain relationships with the HIT advisory committee and sites that mentor our students during their externship.
-Prepare, submit, and administer the HIT program budget along with preparing a class schedule for every semester.
