Writing 1000 - Introduction to Academic Writing: The course is designed to help students develop skills in critical reading and writing at the university level. I taught strategies for summary
rhetorical analysis and persuasion
and for preparing a research paper. Emphasis was placed on academic writing conventions such as citation
and the evaluation and incorporation of sources into a student's writing. I taught genre theory and a writing across the disciplines approach to prepare students for careers in academia.\n \nWriting 500 - Introduction of Academic Reading and Writing. This course is offered through the First Nations Transition Program (FNTP) at U of L. I taught this as a pre-requisite to Writing 1000 for First Nations students entering the university system. \n\nWriting 2000 - Rhetoric of Science. I designed and taught this course which focuses on the suasive use of language by scientists
science writers
and the media.I taught students to critically think about what they read and hear; the \"truth\" is not always the most accurate
but it is the most persuasive.
