I am an educator in Radiologic Technology who has maintained a career in professional practice for 35 years. I have a passion for ensuring that my patients get the best quality exam with the least amount or radiation (I pledge to image gently/lightly) while promoting the mission of my hospital. I began my career in radiography education to help others achieve the same level of expertise and passion for patient care. My active involvement in professional societies affords me the opportunity to network with others who have the same level of expertise and passion.
Radiographer /Clerical: billing, coding & receptionist
RT in Urgent Care setting responsibilities include:
Receiving a physician's verbal orders for radiographic examinations.
Assesses situations; exercises care, discretion, and judgment; assumes responsibility for my professional decisions; and acts in the best interest of my patient.
Assuming responsibility for patient needs during procedures
Preparing patients for radiologic procedures.
Applying principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self and others (to include determination of technical exposure factors which will reduce dose).
Evaluating images for technical quality, ensuring proper ID.
Identifying and responding to emergency situations.
Providing patient education.
Educating and monitoring other health care providers.
Applying the principles of patient safety during all aspects of patient care.
Assisting with minor surgical procedures.
Familiar with and adhering to the practice of Radiologic Technology licensure laws in NJ State.
Obtaining a pertinent history for billing and coding purposes.
Verifying ICDN codes on all billable services.
Accepting payment (cash, check and credit card) and documenting same appropriately.
Radiographer
Overnight RT in Emergency Room. Responsibilities include providing optimal care in CT, Diagnostic Imaging, OR & Portables by performing duties outlined in the ASRT's Scope of Practice, to include:
Receiving, relaying and documenting a physician, nurse practitioner or PA's verbal, written and electronic orders in the patient's medical record.
Assesses situations; exercises care, discretion, and judgment; assumes responsibility for my professional decisions; and acts in the best interest of my patient.
Verifying informed consent for applicable procedures.
Assuming responsibility for patient needs during procedures
Preparing patients for radiologic procedures.
Applying principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self and others (to include determination of technical exposure factors which will reduce dose).
Performing venipuncture, as prescribed by licensed independent practitioner.
Starting, maintaining and/or removing IV access as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
Evaluating images for technical quality, ensuring proper ID.
Identifying and responding to emergency situations.
Providing patient education.
Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
Applying the principles of patient safety during all aspects of patient care.
Assisting licensed independent practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized radiologic procedures.
Familiar with and adhering to the practice of Radiologic Technology licensure laws in NY State.

Supports the program director/department chair to help assure effective program operation.
Cooperates with the program director in periodic review and revision of course materials.

I understand the sequencing of didactic instruction and clinical education.
Provides students with clinical instruction, supervision and evaluation at designated clinical affiliate.

Maintains competency in the professional discipline and instructional and evaluative techniques through continuing professional development.
