Professor Tiden is really a good choice for the introduction to Biology course. She's very nice, knowledgeable, and cares about her students. The whole class is all about lectures. However, you don't need the book. Attendance is not mandatory in her class as well. Also, she will tell you specifically what's on the midterms and is very clear. She gives out candy on Thursdays to keep your motivation up.
