• Kellogg Elementary In Partnership with the Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies

  Regenerative Communities Fellow

  I worked as a Regenerative Communities Fellow at Kellogg Elementary School in Pomona, CA to advance environmental awareness and support inquiry-based learning. As a fellow I strive to empower the community of students, parents and faculty to address environmental challenges, and develop as a regenerative school and community within Pomona. Duties included providing class instruction, maintenance of school garden, and establishment of childhood mentorship programs.
  

• Garden School Foundation

  Intern

  Provided Garden-based education and instruction to under-served youth through the Seed-to-Table program. Worked with Southern California leaders in urban agriculture and the garden-based education movement to create, implement, and assess garden-based curriculum in a primary school setting.

• U.S. Forest Service

  Contracted Researcher

  Collected vegetation and soils data on various research plots/projects in the North Mountain Experimental Area and San Dimas Experimental Forest. Duties included field study implementation, field work, monitoring and assessment of plots, data collection, soil analysis, and data entry. Related activities occurred in a field, lab, greenhouse and office setting.

• U.S. Forest Service

  Natural Resource Management (Student Trainee)

  Assisted District Botanist with establishment and surveying of monitoring plots, of California native flora, in the Holcomb Fire Area. Assisted District Wildlife Biologist with endangered species surveying (arroyo toad). Assisted District Wildlife Biologist with nesting bird surveys to comply with the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Assisted District Wildlife Biologist with field work locating and surveying mines for an upcoming study by Bat Conservation International staff. Assisted restoration staff in assigned projects, insuring that project deadlines were met. Provided restoration program support to the San Bernardino National Forest including, seed collection and cleaning, native species propagation, planting potted flora out in the forest, establishment of trail fencing, routine monitoring and maintenance of older restoration sights/plots.
  
  Served as lead technician tasked with testing all San Bernardino National Forest nursery facilities for Phytophthora pathogens. Improved nursery conditions and created sound recommendations for future implementations of additional best management practices (BMP's). Assisted in the enhancement of Monarch butterfly habitat as well as the monitoring of adult Monarch butterflies, egg, and larvae.

  Student Intern

  Exposed to local ecosystems and native flora in the San Bernardino National Forest and assisted with complex environmental investigations on biodiversity. Aided district scientists and contracted professionals on research related to fire and fire effects of Chaparral landscapes. Experienced field techniques in mapping and research plots and transects; Lab work included soil and fuels measurements on native chaparral; Greenhouse work involved basic horticultural skills including propagating, transplanting, and planting.

  Graduate Teaching Assistant

  Provide classroom instruction, exams, record keeping, and other miscellaneous projects. Work with other professors and teachers to develop course plans. Lead discussion sections. Deliver lectures. Correspond with students on Blackboard or related inter-campus communication system. Assess student achievement and establish course discourse.
