James Ogburn (b. 1974) has been featured at World Saxophone Congress XVI (2012), the Seventh and Eighth Thailand International Composition Festivals (2011 and 2012), the Inaugural Asian Double Reed Association Conference (2011), the Fifth Thailand International Brass and Percussion Festival (2011), ACO/ Penn Presents New Music (2009), June in Buffalo (2007), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Readings (2007), the National Student Conference of SCI (2004), and the Krakow Academy SME 30-Year Anniversary Gala (2003). His music has been performed and commissioned(*) by American Composers Orchestra, Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO)*, Karol Vary Symphony Orchestra, Mahidol Wind Symphony*, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Flux Quartet, red fish blue fish percussion, Tetris Quartet, Siam Saxophone Quartet*, Central Washington University Orchestra*, IonSound Project*, Krakow Academy Quartet, ALIA MUSICA Pittsburgh*, Contemporary Enclave, Old Pros Trombone Choir*, BurnNation Quartet*, Shyen Lee (saxophone)*, Amy Galbraith (oboe)*, Julieta Ugartamendia (clarinet)*, Matthew Gillespie (piano)*, Luisa Sello (flute)*, Danny Keasler (viola)*, and more.
He has conducted programs with the Central Washington University Orchestra, the University of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, IonSound Project, the University of Pittsburgh String Orchestra, The Central Washington University Chorale, ALIA MUSICA Pittsburgh, the Mahidol University Contemporary Music Ensemble, Old Pros Trombone Choir, Contemporary Enclave and numerous student and non-professional ensembles. An outspoken advocate for contemporary music, he has conducted regional and world premieres of works by Joan Tower, Chen Yi, Zhou Long, Nancy Galbraith, Eric Moe, Roger W. Petersen, Eric Ewazen, Houston Dunleavy, Gregory van der Struik, Federico Garcia, Roger Zahab, Ivan Jimenez, Kerrith Livengood, Erica Kudisch, Benjamin Harris, Mark Fromm, and John Durham.
