I am a visiting instructor of public relations and communication studies at Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio. I teach several course in public relations, from Introduction to Public Relations to the senior capstone class Public Relations Campaigns. In addition to my public relations course, I also teach Organizational Communication, as well as courses in communication theory and research. I am the proud adviser for the Ashland University Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA).
Previously, I was Ph.D. student and instructor at the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University. I have taught several courses at the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism including Strategic Social Media, Introduction to Strategic Communication, and Strategic Communication Theory and Research.
My doctoral research focuses on pedagogy practices of award-winning public relations and advertising programs at U.S. universities. In addition, I study the use of computer-mediated communication and social media in advertising, public relations, and health communication campaigns. I have presented my research at several conferences including the Society for Case Research (SCR), MBAA International, and the Association for Education in Mass Communication and Journalism (AEJMC).
I currently serve on the social media committee of the Educators Academy of PRSA, and am a director-at-large for the Society for Case Research. I am the former Head of the Graduate Student Interest Group (GSIG) of AEJMC. At Ohio University, I served as a senator representing the Scripps College of Communication in the Graduate Student Senate, as well as a member of the Interdisciplinary Council and Library Committee.
Before pursuing my graduate education, I earned more than a decade of professional experience as a business owner, branding consultant, and producer for several radio stations.
