I had AR: What is it Good For? with Professor Downes and it's one of the best classes I had at GW. Downes is funny and super passionate. Sometimes the readings are a bit excessive, but doing them will make the class more rewarding. He is one of the best IA/PSC Professors at GW. If you have the chance to take a seminar with him, do it!

Downes was an amazing teacher, and while the class was hard, it was worth it. Really just a wonderful and passionate teacher whose TAs were similarly good. I've just never entered a class where I learned so much. Highly recommended!

Poor
Friendly and engaged professor, but he really doesn't care about the availability of material. Expecting you to read way through too many of each lecture (up to 100 pages per week), took a lot of time for some grade things, and got screwed over for participation, which kept me from A.
