Represent state agencies and government employees in suits filed against the state in both federal and state court. Review agency policy and make formal recommendations to bring these policies into compliance with both federal and state statute. Represent the state in criminal appeals and draft briefs in support of criminal convictions. Tasks have included some of the following: securing settlement authority from the Indiana State Governor and initiating final settlement for case in both state and federal court
responding to discovery requests such as interrogatories and requests for production of documents
attended depositions of state employees
drafting pleadings and motions
conduct high level meetings with state agency officials to formulate litigation strategy
represent clients at evidentiary hearings
and generally performing all task from initiation of complaint through the appellate process.
