  I came to West Texas A&M University as an assistant professor in 2002

  after completing my PhD at the University of Oregon.

  I began as an English Professor at West Texas A&M University in 2002 and became Haley Professor of Western Studies in 2012. I was editor of the _Panhandle-Plains Historical Review_ from 2012-2017. I am co-president of the Western Literature Association for 2019.
