Dr. Ahmad Abdel Tawwab Sharaf Eldin has M.A and Ph.D. degrees in Linguistics. He got Fulbright Grant to teach language at State University of New York, USA in 2007/2008. He was also teaching Language, Literature and Linguistics at the College of William and Mary, Virginia, USA, and at Wake Forest University in North Carolina, USA in 2013/2015. He was also teaching at Middlebury College’s Summer Intensive program in California.
While being in Turkey, Dr. Ahmad used to work as a professional simultaneous interpreter from English into Arabic and vice versa in international conferences in Istanbul and Gaziantep. In Egypt, Dr. Ahmad used to teach English and Arabic languages (Phonetics, Applied Linguistics, Sociolinguistics) at the American University in Cairo, Amideast, Ain Shams University, and Menoufia University. In addition to his academic background, Dr. Ahmad has professionally worked a TV presenter for a satellite TV channel, located in Cairo, Egypt. The show could be reached through

As for Academic Publications, Dr. Ahmad has research publications in peered-reviewed journals in the US and Egypt. He also published two books in English language and the third book published in Arabic language;
Visiting Assistant Professor
• Teaching intermediate and advanced Modern Standard and Colloquial Arabic to foreign students.
• Teaching class on Arabic literature and literary discourse, covering the classical and modern times. (in English)
• Teaching class on the Arab media which cover recent events in the Arab world, with a special focus on Egypt. These courses examine events from multiple perspectives, including their political, social, artistic, and historical dimensions in the Middle East.

Ensures that quality instruction is being offered throughout the programs by supervising and monitoring translation programs and courses conducted in all SCE facilities
Works with the assistant division director on planning, piloting and implementing new translation programs including curriculum design
Assists in the preparation of the part-time faculty hiring roster
Manages scheduling of classes in coordination with other designated division administrators each term
Fosters professional growth by planning or providing part-time faculty with information on the latest translation and translation teaching techniques and methods through demonstrations and workshops; encourages faculty to use the video checklists for self-evaluation
Creates implements and/or maintains a wide range of schemes for translation faculty professional development opportunities
Visits classes, evaluates teaching and gives feedback to part-time translation faculty as required by SCE policy; improves the inter-rater reliability of teacher observation within the evaluation system
Conducts interviews of applicants for translation part-time teaching if required; assesses jointly with another administrator demonstration lessons given by new teaching applicants prior to hiring
Handles student advising and processes all student petitions and cases
Assists in the selection of translation course materials and the preparation of the annual program materials order
Supervises division program staff and assists the ADD in evaluating their performance annually
Prepares statistical reports to assess the overall success of the current translation programs

Teaching communicative courses on culture in the Arab world, and courses on literature. The purpose of such course is to show the correlation of language and culture on one hand, and literature on the other hand.
